Venezuela's INTT establishes new regulations for delivery platforms

The National Institute of Land Transport (INTT) in Venezuela has established new mandatory regulations for delivery companies and mobile application platforms, such as Ridery, that provide courier and logistics services. The measure aims to align the sector with the Land Transport Law and reduce accident rates among motorcyclists.

Under the new rules, the legal responsibility for the service lies with the company that owns the digital platform, even if the specific route is agreed upon between the driver and the customer. To obtain an annual operating permit, companies must comply with several requirements, including mandatory registration with the INTT, utilizing a regulated driving school to certify commercial drivers, maintaining valid civil liability and medical insurance, and subjecting their fleets to periodic technical inspections.

Authorities emphasized that these regulations are part of a broader effort to improve service quality and road safety through driver training and institutional oversight.
