Venezuela's Maiquetía Airport to reopen partially within months after June quakes

The Venezuelan government announced that partial commercial operations at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía could resume in two to three months following the moderate damage caused by the June 24 earthquakes. Transport Minister Francisco Garcés said the rehabilitation plan includes temporary terminals made of large tents to handle both domestic and international flights while reconstruction proceeds.

Garcés also reported that the presidential commission assessing building safety has inspected more than 32,000 structures in Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda, assigning green, yellow or red labels. He emphasized that no building marked red will be demolished while bodies remain to be recovered, prioritizing safety and humanitarian concerns.
