Venezuela's official dollar rate climbs to 721.35 bolivars per USD

On Monday, 13 July 2026, the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) reported an official exchange rate of 721.3456 bolívars per US dollar, a 1.6418 % increase from the previous session. The move is part of the administration’s “aggressive devaluation” strategy under acting President Delcy Rodríguez, aimed at narrowing the gap with the parallel market, where the dollar trades around 828.8 bolívars on platforms such as Binance.

June’s consumer‑price index rose 13.8 % year‑on‑year, with notable price hikes in transport, education, housing, health, culture, home equipment and food‑beverages. Economists warned that the tightening policy could trap the economy in a loop of rising inflation and further devaluation. The BCV also announced the injection of over US$1.869 billion in foreign currency for July, one of the largest monthly inflows in recent years, to support market liquidity and move toward a convertible currency regime.
