Venezuela's SAIME reopens offices for ID renewal and passport delivery

Starting 1 July, the Servicio Administrativo de Identificación, Migración y Extranjería (SAIME) began reopening a selected group of offices across Venezuela after they were closed following the June 24 earthquakes. The initial phase includes the Simón Bolívar office in Plaza Caracas and facilities in 22 states, with a temporary schedule of 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (some sites operate from 9:00 a.m.).

The reopened offices will handle only two priority services: renewal of the national identity card without the need for a prior appointment, and the delivery of passports that have already been processed. Citizens can also obtain new appointments for passport issuance. The agency listed specific locations ranging from Amazonas (Puerto Ayacucho) and Anzoátegui (Puerto La Cruz, El Tigre) to Zulia (Sabaneta, Core 3, Cabimas, Ciudad Ojeda) and the capital district (GNB Paraíso, Caricuao, IPSFA, 23 de Enero). SAIME said it will progressively resume full services nationwide to ensure the right to identity for all Venezuelans.
