Venezuela's Saime restores passport appointments after June earthquakes

The Servicio Administrativo de Identificación, Migración y Extranjería (Saime) announced procedures for citizens to re‑schedule passport appointments that were suspended following the late‑June earthquakes that damaged offices in Caracas and La Guaira. Starting this week, users can log into the Saime website, select the passport service section, and choose a new date and location, with priority given to centers that were not structurally affected. The reprogramming is free nationwide and aims to prevent loss of identity documents.

Saime also temporarily closed several offices in Caracas and La Guaira from 13 to 17 July, citing the national emergency decree issued on 24 June. The agency directed users to collect pending passports and visas at its central headquarters on Avenida Baralt in Caracas, which will operate extended hours. Citizens are urged to follow official Saime channels for updates on office reopenings.
