Venezuela's transport ministry outlines upgrades to metro and road networks

Venezuelan transport officials, led by Minister Francisco Garcés and Vice‑Minister Paola Artahona, met with heads of the country's metro, rail and bus operators to assess the current state of mass‑transit systems and devise a plan for maintenance, fleet modernization and comprehensive road‑network rehabilitation. Participants included the presidents of the Caracas Metro, Metro Los Teques, Metro Maracaibo, Metro Valencia, Metrobús Venezuela and representatives from the National Urban Transport Fund, Yutong Venezuela and the National Logistics and Cargo Transport Corporation.

In a related effort, the Caracas Metro announced the replacement of roughly 7,000 metres of rail on Line 2 between Caricuao and Zoológico. Metro president Yoel Amaya inspected the work, which also involves renewing sleepers, fastenings and electrical components to improve reliability and safety for the thousands of daily riders.

Both initiatives aim to boost operational efficiency, reduce service disruptions and modernize Venezuela’s public‑transport infrastructure.
