Venice area discobus shuttle transports 350 passengers
In the Venice metropolitan area, the “discobus” free shuttle service has transported 352 passengers during its first five monitored weekends this summer. The service, designed to provide safe transport for young people returning from nightclubs in the Venetian coastal area to eastern Veneto municipalities, saw its highest usage on Sunday, August 16, with 93 users.
Silvia Susanna, the metropolitan deputy mayor, stated that the service is a concrete tool for road safety prevention, offering a safe alternative to reduce risks associated with nighttime travel. The project includes expanded stops and improved communication to better reach young people, operating as part of a broader road safety initiative involving the Prefect of Venice.
