Venice Beach man found dead in apparent suicide

A man was found dead on Monday night at Venice Beach following an apparent suicide. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to reports of a shooting on the 1800 block of Ocean Front Walk around 11:13 p.m.

The individual was discovered with a gunshot wound in the sand south of Lifeguard Tower 19, near Muscle Beach and the Venice Beach basketball courts. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the man dead at the scene, where a gun was recovered.

Authorities stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. The LA County Medical Examiner will conduct an investigation to determine the official cause of death and will release the man’s identity once his family has been notified.
