Venice expands contemporary art scene with new exhibitions and venues

Venice is expanding its contemporary art landscape with new exhibitions and the opening of a dedicated cultural space. Bogi Nagy has inaugurated the “Dürer Trail” exhibition at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello. The project, which includes a baroque concert, uses contemporary language to reinterpret the historical journey taken by Albrecht Dürer between Nuremberg and Venice, blending painting, graphic signs, and plastic interventions with the palace's historic architecture.

Additionally, Palazzetto Marcello is set to open in the Castello district on November 5, 2026. Following a restoration by Studio 91, the historic building will serve as a contemporary art venue centered around the Gianrico Specchio collection, which spans visual arts, design, and architecture from the 1950s to the present. The inaugural exhibition, “L’inizio ci assale,” featuring the work of Luca Bertolo and curated by Elena Volpato, will run until February 14, 2027.
