Venice Film Festival announces 83rd edition lineup

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is scheduled to take place at the Lido from September 2 to September 12, 2026. Directed by Alberto Barbera and organized by the Venice Biennale, the event will feature twenty films in official competition.

Notable programming includes the opening film ‘Ink’ by Danny Boyle, a Netflix production starring Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, and Claire Foy. The competition also features works from acclaimed directors such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Nanni Moretti, Lee Chang-dong, and Casey Affleck. Additionally, George Clooney and Ellen Burstyn are set to receive Golden Lion lifetime achievement awards.

This edition is characterized by a notable absence of major Hollywood studios in the main competition, a trend also observed at the Cannes Film Festival earlier in the year. The festival remains accessible to the general public through ticketed screenings at various locations including the Palazzo del Cinema and the Casinò.
