Venice Film Festival features new works by De Angelis and Brizé

New films by directors Edoardo De Angelis and Stéphane Brizé are featured in the competition at the Venice Film Festival.

De Angelis’s film, ‘Il fuoco che ti porti dentro’, is based on a novel by Antonio Franchini. Starring Valeria Scalera and Lino Musella, the drama explores intense family tensions during a Christmas Eve dinner between a mother and her adult son. The director emphasized a focus on writing and acting over special effects to push the protagonists into unexplored emotional territories.

Stéphane Brizé’s ‘A Good Little Soldier’ (Un bon petit soldat) examines the pressures of modern corporate life. Starring Alba Rohrwacher, the film follows a middle manager attempting to balance professional demands from superiors and problematic employees with the challenges of motherhood. The film continues Brizé’s thematic exploration of individuals struggling against the weight of corporate capitalism and shareholder value.
