Venice Film Festival to feature two Iranian films on war impact

The Venice Film Festival will showcase two Iranian films that explore the societal consequences of conflict and political repression within Iran.

A Bit of Light,” directed by Ali Asgari, follows a doctor in Tehran who loses faith in the future after being arrested by authorities and having his medical practice closed. The film highlights the pressures of living under the current regime amidst threats of foreign military action.

Falling House,” directed by Mohsen Gharaei, depicts a family on the outskirts of Tehran facing the destruction of their home due to a redevelopment project. Both films were shot surreptitiously within Iran. Producer Odessa Rae noted that the films address the feeling of being trapped within a system that offers no clear escape.
