Venice Jewish Museum reopens after seven-year restoration

The Museo Ebraico di Venezia (MEV) is set to reopen to the public on October 22 following a seven-year restoration and expansion project. The renovation, which involved an investment of 12 million euros, has increased the museum's exhibition space from 1,400 to 1,700 square meters.

The project includes the architectural recovery of three synagogues located in Campo Ghetto Novo: the German (Scola Tedesca), Italian (Scola Italiana), and Canton synagogues. These sites are now integrated into the museum's visitor path while maintaining their identity as places of worship.

According to Paolo Navarro Dina, vice president of the Jewish Community, the modernized facility aims to better communicate the history, traditions, and daily life of one of Europe's oldest Jewish communities. The museum features new permanent and temporary exhibition halls, a renovated entrance, and improved facilities for reception, ticketing, and security.
