Venice4Palestine demands Palestinian flag display at Venice Film Festival

The collective Venice4Palestine has issued an appeal to the Venice Biennale and film industry workers ahead of the 2026 Venice International Film Festival. The group is calling for concrete political actions at the Lido, specifically requesting the visible display of the Palestinian flag to coincide with the official selection of two Palestinian films: ‘Al Mowaten Osama’ by Ahmed Hassoun and ‘Hiwar ma’ albahr’ by Muayad Alayan.

Beyond symbolic gestures, the collective is demanding greater transparency regarding the film industry's supply chain. This includes calls for the public disclosure of funding, co-productions, distribution agreements, and institutional relationships to identify potential political links. Venice4Palestine has also called for a boycott of entities or institutions linked to the Israeli government, clarifying that the movement targets institutional structures rather than individuals of Israeli origin or culture.
