Venipak invests €2.5 million in Baltic logistics infrastructure
Logistics company Venipak is investing over €2.5 million in infrastructure and modernization across the Baltic states. A significant portion of this investment focuses on increasing parcel locker capacity in Latvia, where the number of compartments in high-traffic locations has already grown by approximately 15%. The company is also expanding and automating logistics terminals in Lithuania and Estonia to manage rising parcel volumes and labor market challenges. Notably, Venipak is moving to a new terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania, which is 60% larger than its predecessor and capable of handling double the parcel volume.
This expansion follows DHL eCommerce’s agreement to acquire Venipak, a move intended to establish DHL’s own operations in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. DHL CEO Pablo Ciano indicated that Eastern Europe is now a primary focus for the division’s European acquisition strategy, as the company seeks to strengthen its domestic and cross-border delivery networks. DHL noted that its cross-border business is growing by roughly 15% annually, while volumes handled through parcel shops and lockers are increasing by approximately 50% per year, driven in part by the rise in second-hand sales.
