Venko Filipche calls for focus on living standards and agricultural support
SDSM President Venko Filipche has called for the government to prioritize living standards and economic stability over historical discussions. In an interview with Sitel Television, Filipche stated that citizens are struggling with poverty, noting that food prices in the country are higher than in Germany while purchasing power remains extremely low.
Filipche highlighted the critical situation in the agricultural sector, reporting that livestock farmers, viticulturists, and dairy producers are facing low purchase prices, reduced subsidies, and rising production costs. He warned that many farmers may be unable to continue production next year due to debt and lack of investment funds.
To address these issues, Filipche urged the parliamentary majority to support an SDSM proposal for increased financial support in agriculture through additional subsidies per kilogram produced and per hectare of land. He also called for support for a proposal to increase the minimum wage to 600 euros, noting that previous attempts to raise the minimum wage and grape purchase prices have been rejected by the current administration.
