Venko Filipče accuses Mickoski of blocking EU path to avoid prosecution

SDSM President Venko Filipče has accused Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski of obstructing North Macedonia’s European integration. In an interview with Telma television, Filipče claimed that Mickoski’s resistance is not primarily due to constitutional amendments, but rather a fear of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and the potential opening of criminal investigations that could affect the current government.

Filipče stated that the European path requires establishing an independent judicial system where European institutions can verify suspicious cases. He also noted that the French proposal involves more than constitutional changes, including the need to clarify files from former intelligence services.

Addressing recent political rhetoric, Filipče criticized the Prime Minister for using insulting language toward citizens. He argued that the government's policies are leading the country toward ruin, citing issues such as stagnant minimum wages, difficulties in the agricultural sector, and the blocked path to EU membership.
