Venko Filipče proposes universal vetting law and corporate profit tax

SDSM President Venko Filipče has announced a master plan focused on anti-corruption, vetting, and economic reforms in North Macedonia. A central component of this plan is a proposed special vetting law that would apply to all current and former officials, regardless of political affiliation. Filipče explicitly stated that the law should cover individuals from his own party, including Zoran Zaev and Radmila Shekerinska, as well as current officials under Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.

The proposed vetting process would involve foreign experts to verify the origins of officials' assets. Additionally, the plan includes measures to tax 'extra profits' earned by large companies that have worked with the state over the last decade, aiming to return these funds to the national budget.

On the economic front, Filipče proposed the reintroduction of a progressive tax to promote fairer capital distribution. He also addressed environmental concerns, pledging that SDSM would oppose any urbanization projects on Vodno mountain.
