SDSM leader Venko Filipce declares readiness for early elections
SDSM President Venko Filipce has announced that the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia is prepared for early parliamentary elections at any time. He stated that the party has a team, a program, and a ‘Master Plan for Macedonia’ ready for presentation.
Filipce criticized Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, arguing that the government is seeking early elections because it lacks the budget to fund its projects and is facing economic stagnation. He highlighted severe economic issues, including a nearly 200 million euro debt for VAT refunds, declining foreign investment, and falling industrial production. He emphasized that SDSM will not serve as an ‘alibi’ for Mickoski’s political calculations.
Regarding political alliances, Filipce suggested that the opposition could unite under the ‘Front for Truth and Justice’ if the Levica party shifts its stance to support NATO and the European Union. He also raised urgent concerns regarding the healthcare system, noting that the PET center has been non-functional for two and a half months, which he claims directly endangers the lives of cancer patients.
