Venla Roine solidifies role as Helsingin Palloseura’s first‑choice goalkeeper

Twenty‑year‑old Venla Roine has become the starting goalkeeper for Helsingin Palloseura (HPS) in Finland’s Kansallinen Liiga. After debuting at 16 and returning from a serious injury, she credits a new mental‑coaching routine for her improved confidence and on‑field composure. Roine says she now Reviews mistakes immediately in training and focuses on the next match, reducing the anxiety that affected her during her debut season.

The club is fighting for a medal spot and, after a strong run from fourth place, aims to finish the season in the upper‑tier continuation series. Roine was voted into the league’s “Star of the Field” team in June, reflecting both her individual progress and HPS’s rise in the standings. She also acknowledges the support of Mira Andersson, a mental‑strength coach who helped her cope with early‑career pressures and a lengthy rehabilitation period.
