Venâncio Aires municipal tax revenue rises 19.5% in first half of 2026

The state‑level ICMS transfers to the municipality of Venâncio Aires grew 19.5% in the January‑June 2026 period, reaching R$ 38.38 million. In the same period of 2025 the municipality received R$ 32.11 million, and the amount also exceeded the state government's forecast of R$ 36.35 million by about 5.6%.

March recorded the highest monthly transfer at R$ 7.85 million, followed by June with R$ 7.56 million. ICMS, the main state tax distributed to Rio Grande do Sul municipalities, allocates 25% of its total collection to local governments based on the Municipal Participation Index (IPM), which considers local economic activity, fiscal added value, agricultural production and other indicators.
