Venstre and Alternativet propose Ørestad referendum on golf course conversion

The political parties Venstre and Alternativet have proposed a consultative referendum for residents of Ørestad regarding a potential land acquisition by the Copenhagen Municipality. The proposal concerns the purchase of 105 hectares of green space, currently a private golf course located at Kalvebod Kile, to transform it into a new nature and culture park that would include a festival site.

Proponents of the referendum argue that while a festival area offers cultural opportunities, it also brings potential noise and traffic to the local community. Karoline Lindgaard, political leader for Alternativet Copenhagen, stated that it is crucial for citizens to be heard before such significant local changes are decided. The proposal is scheduled for treatment by the Copenhagen City Council.
