Venstre leader demands tax cuts for budget cooperation

During a recent party leader debate in Denmark, Venstre leader Troels Lund Poulsen issued a firm message to the government regarding the upcoming finance law. Poulsen stated that Venstre will not provide unconditional support to Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, asserting that the party is not willing to act as ‘useful idiots’. He indicated that cooperation on the budget would require genuine tax cuts to avoid placing an undue burden on businesses and citizens.

The debate also highlighted political tensions and absences, with Morten Messerschmidt of the Danish People's Party criticizing the absence of Frederiksen and Rasmussen. Additionally, Henrik Frandsen, a former minister, is expected to be elected as the new Speaker of the Folketinget, following discussions with Lars Løkke Rasmussen regarding his political future.
