Venta Peña closes after 116 years in Algeciras

The historic Venta Peña restaurant in Algeciras, Spain, closed its doors on October 31 after 116 years of operation. The establishment, which opened in 1910, is being shuttered due to the expropriation of its land to facilitate construction works for the Algeciras North Access project.

The business has been managed by five generations of the Peña family. The current owner, Mari Ángeles, noted that the site has served as a landmark on the Cádiz-Málaga highway for over a century, acting as a meeting point for locals and workers from the former Celupal factory.

Staff and customers marked the final day with a celebratory atmosphere, including music and dancing, to honor the long history of the establishment.
