Vente Venezuela launches digital platform for diaspora voter registration

The opposition movement Vente Venezuela, led by María Corina Machado, has introduced a digital platform called ‘Constructores’ to register Venezuelan citizens living both within the country and abroad. Developed over 18 months by a team of approximately 15 people, the tool aims to consolidate a database to facilitate future voter registration and data updates with the National Electoral Council.

The initiative specifically targets the Venezuelan diaspora, which faces systematic barriers to exercising voting rights. The platform seeks to map the geographic distribution of citizens abroad to identify strategic registration points once institutional conditions for transparent elections are met. It is estimated that the application could assist up to four million Venezuelans living outside the country, with a particular focus on youth who grew up abroad.

This mobilization comes amid ongoing political uncertainty and institutional crisis in Venezuela. While Machado has advocated for elections to be held before July 2027, the current political landscape remains contested. The platform will also serve as a channel for citizens to contribute ideas to the ‘Venezuela Tierra de Gracia’ project, utilizing biometric identification systems to ensure data privacy.
