Ventimiglia and Marche towns decry tourism policies, push for funding

In Ventimiglia, local PD secretary Antonio Stivala criticised Mayor Di Muro’s tourism strategy, saying that slogans and high‑profile announcements have not attracted visitors. He noted a decline in tourist numbers, empty shop windows, and an increased lodging tax on extra‑hotel accommodations, while large projects such as a new bike path are announced without clear financing.

Meanwhile, a municipality in the Marche region secured a €6,000 grant from the regional government to strengthen its tourist information and reception centre (IAT) on via Oberdan. The funding will allow longer opening hours, especially during the summer peak, and support the production of promotional material and event coordination, aiming to improve the city’s image and visitor experience.
