Highland Europe closed its sixth fund, Fund VI, at €1.1 billion, bringing the firm’s total capital raised across six vehicles to €3.75 billion. The fund targets European growth‑stage technology companies, especially in AI, enterprise software, fintech and ag‑tech.

Global venture‑capital funding reached a record $510 billion in the first half of 2026, with more than 70% of the second‑quarter money flowing to AI firms. OpenAI and Anthropic together attracted roughly $217 billion, about 43% of all venture capital deployed.

In the United States, startups raised $19.44 billion in July 2026, 67% of which went to AI‑related companies. The four largest late‑stage rounds—Joulent, Atoms, Fireworks AI and SambaNova—accounted for $5.95 billion of that total.

SpaceXAI disclosed $18.37 billion of capital expenditures in its first public quarter, of which $15.83 billion was spent on AI infrastructure, far above analyst expectations and representing a capex level comparable to the biggest cloud providers.
