Venture capital investors urge startup sustainability amid market contraction
Investors in the Latin American venture capital ecosystem are emphasizing a shift toward sustainability and capital efficiency. During the Pitch Reverso event, representatives from several investment firms, including Headline, B Venture Capital, Honey Island, and Caravela Capitale, highlighted that the era of irresponsible cash burn for rapid growth has ended.
Due to reduced liquidity and a more selective market, startups are being advised to ensure they can survive using only the funds they currently secure, rather than relying on subsequent funding rounds. Gabriel Alves, a partner at Headline, noted that the Brazilian venture capital market has faced a severe contraction since 2022, warning companies that they must find market fit or face failure in the current scarcity.
