Venus figurine discovered at Roman settlement in Hungary
Archaeologists have unearthed a lead figurine depicting Venus Pudica at a Roman settlement in Pilisszentiván-Hárs, Hungary. The discovery, made during the fourth excavation season at the site, represents the first religious object found at this specific location.
Led by Bence Simon of Eötvös Loránd University, the excavation team uncovered the figurine alongside various other artifacts, including fragments of leaded bronze armor, iron tools, brooches, pottery, and coins. The site, located in the northwestern outskirts of Aquincum, also revealed a structure with stone-paved areas that researchers believe may have been used for economic or work-related activities.
