Venus Williams and Alexandra Eala eliminated in doubles at Toronto's National Bank Open

United States' Venus Williams and Philippines' Alexandra Eala were defeated in the round of 32 of the women's doubles at the National Bank Open in Toronto. The pair lost in straight sets, 6‑4, 6‑3, to the experienced tandem of Japan's Miyu Kato and Russia's Liudmila Samsonova on Centre Court at Sobeys Stadium.

Eala remains in the singles draw after a 6‑1, 4‑6, 6‑2 victory over Alycia Parks and will face Caty McNally next. Williams is set to return to competition soon, joining her sister Serena at the upcoming WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.
