Venzone hosts conference on religious architecture reconstruction

The Archdiocese of Udine is hosting a conference in Venzone titled “Ri-edificare. L’architettura ecclesiale: ristrutturazione, restauro, ricostruzione” to mark the 50th anniversary of the Friuli earthquake. The event focuses on the restoration and reconstruction of religious buildings, including churches, bell towers, and parish spaces, which serve as vital social and identity landmarks for local communities.

This meeting is the fourth in a five-part series organized by the Archdiocese, following previous sessions in Udine, Artegna, and Gemona. The final event is scheduled for October 25. Monsignor Sandro Piussi, director of the Diocesan Office for Cultural Heritage and Religious Buildings, noted that the reconstruction period helped establish the “Friuli Model,” characterized by close collaboration between local institutions, citizens, and parishes to rebuild their future.
