Veolia to invest 1 billion euros in Spain to expand market presence
Veolia CEO Estelle Brachlianoff has announced that Spain is projected to become the company’s third most important long-term market, trailing only France and the United States. Speaking at a Cede event in Madrid, Brachlianoff noted that Spain is currently close to the importance of Germany and the United Kingdom but possesses significant growth potential.
The company plans to invest approximately 1 billion euros in Spain between 2025 and 2030, aiming to increase its activity in the country by nearly 40% by the end of the decade. These investments will focus on three primary sectors: water, energy, and waste recovery, including innovation laboratories dedicated to environmental challenges.
Addressing water scarcity, Brachlianoff highlighted that Spain is highly exposed to drought risks. Veolia is developing water reuse technologies in Spain—where currently about 15% of used water is recovered compared to 1% in France—with the intention of exporting these solutions to other markets.
