VEON increases Pakistan investment plan to $1.5 billion

Global digital operator VEON has increased its planned investment in Pakistan to $1.5 billion over the next three years, up from a previous commitment of $1 billion. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced the $500 million increase during a virtual address at the SDGs Investment Fair 2026 in Karachi, organized by UNDP Pakistan.

The additional capital is intended to expand connectivity, modernize digital infrastructure, and accelerate technology-led services. VEON operates in the country through its subsidiary Jazz, which has been expanding into financial services, banking, insurance, and artificial intelligence.

Minister Aurangzeb noted that the increased investment signals renewed momentum in foreign direct investment (FDI) and growing international confidence in Pakistan’s economic stability. He highlighted that the country is projecting 4% growth in the current fiscal year and is focusing on export-led sustainable growth through public-private partnerships.
