Éver Banega banned from leaving Argentina over unpaid child support
An Argentine court has prohibited professional footballer Éver Banega, currently playing for Defensa y Justicia, from leaving the country due to unpaid child support. The judicial measure follows irregular payments regarding the support for his 20-year-old son, Santiago.
According to legal counsel Laura Rechia, the provisional monthly support amount was approximately 3,000 USD, which the athlete has failed to transfer consistently over the last three years. Banega is already listed in the Registry of Delinquent Child Support Debtors.
The legal team stated that they attempted to resolve the matter privately through multiple conversations, but all conciliatory efforts were exhausted. The court's decision to restrict travel is intended to ensure compliance with the financial obligation. Rechia also noted that the athlete does not maintain a personal relationship with his son.
