Vera Egito to direct ‘The Mystery of the 5 Stars’

Vera Egito is set to direct the Brazilian-Portuguese thriller ‘The Mystery of the 5 Stars’. The film features a cast including Marina Ruy Barbosa, João Guilherme, and Portuguese actor José Condessa.

Based on the 1980s young adult novel by Marcos Rey, the story is adapted by Bruno Passeri. Set in São Paulo, the plot follows a bellboy named Leo who embarks on a journey to solve a murder at a luxury hotel where he works. The production aims to provide contemporary content for the growing young adult demographic in Brazil.

The project is a co-production involving Boutique Filmes, Globo Filmes, Ukbar Filmes, and Sony Pictures International Productions Brazil, with Sony Pictures handling distribution.
