Veracruz and Oaxaca legislatures detail 2026 session achievements

In Oaxaca, Deputy Tania Caballero Navarro said the new legislative period will focus on national coordination of the agenda backed by President Claudia Sheinbaum. She highlighted work on harmonising the state mobility and traffic laws, ongoing analysis of a new state constitution and a commitment to inclusive, sustainable policies.

In Veracruz, Deputy Esteban Bautista Hernández reported that the LXVII Legislature completed 91 days of work, approving 23 decrees and processing dozens of initiatives. Major reforms included banning electoral nepotism, criminalising sexual harassment, establishing a low‑cost financing scheme for 199 municipalities, strengthening anti‑poaching laws, digitising public accounts, and creating measures to protect women and children. Additional actions covered environmental recognition, lactation support for working mothers, and expanded anti‑money‑laundering provisions.
