Veracruz anticipates employment growth through construction and seasonal hiring

The state of Veracruz is expected to see a significant economic and employment boost during the final months of 2026. The construction sector is poised for a major reactivation, with projects planned for approximately 23,000 new homes across various regions. According to Tomás Tejeda Martínez of the Confederación Revolucionaria de Obreros y Campesinos (CROC), about 16,000 of these homes will be built in the Xalapa and Veracruz regions, while another 7,000 are planned with Grupo Ara. Work is expected to begin in October in municipalities such as Álamo, Poza Rica, and Xalapa.

Complementing this industrial growth, employment expectations for the southeast region of Mexico remain positive. Data from ManpowerGroup indicates a net employment trend of 44% for the October-December period in the southeast, surpassing the national average of 41%. This uptick is driven by seasonal demand during the year-end holidays and the 'Buen Fin' sales event. Key sectors anticipated to lead hiring include commerce, logistics, construction, information technology, insurance, and finance.
