Xalapa municipal actions include social aid, drug busts, cultural initiatives and weather alerts

The municipal council of Xalapa reported that the Council for Municipal Social Assistance (CONMAS) delivered assistance to 63,175 vulnerable residents during the second quarter of 2026, expanding food‑bank distribution and coordinating with civil society groups.

The State Public Security Secretariat, together with the Navy, the National Defense Secretariat, the National Guard and prosecutors, seized at least 220 doses of presumed narcotics, confiscated weapons and vehicles, and detained 36 people – including two minors – in operations across 28 municipalities.

In cultural policy, the Cabildo approved a call for a Xalapa Comic Anthology with an investment of roughly half a million pesos, reduced permit fees and granted free use of the El Haya Ecological Park to the University of Veracruz. Artists later staged a peaceful protest demanding further tax and fee reforms for cultural practitioners.

Veracruz state weather services warned of hot, humid conditions with thunderstorms, strong gusts and possible flooding, urging residents to follow safety precautions.

Finally, the Bolero and Jazz Festival was scheduled for 10‑12 July in Veracruz’s Teatro de la Reforma and Xalapa’s Teatro del Estado, featuring over 200 performers such as Los Panchos, international jazz groups and local ensembles.
