Veracruz authorities hand down dozens of convictions for kidnapping, extortion and femicide

The Veracruz State Attorney General's Office reported 45 judicial resolutions in a 24‑hour period, including 22 convictions and a 40‑year prison term for a femicide. Additional rulings covered cases of homicide, pederasty, sexual violence and family abuse, with numerous imputations and process linkages across multiple municipalities.

Separately, investigators from the same office dismantled an extortion network operating from the Jalacingo penitentiary. Three individuals were convicted of aggravated kidnapping and sentenced to 60 years in prison, while two others were linked to extortion offenses tied to the prison’s phone‑device cache.
