Veracruz authorities investigate child's death from severe abuse

A five-year-old boy named Leonel died in Veracruz, Mexico, following severe physical abuse. The child was taken to the Hospital de Tejería in critical condition before being transferred to the IMSS Clinic 71, where medical staff confirmed his death due to cardiogenic shock and organ failure resulting from severe trauma.

Medical examinations revealed a pattern of systematic abuse, with bruises and injuries of varying ages found on the child's head, abdomen, and back. Authorities from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and Ministerial Police are investigating the boy's mother and her partner as the primary suspects in the case.
