Veracruz authorities monitor flooding and rising rivers in northern state

Heavy rainfall in northern Veracruz has caused localized flooding and rising river levels. In Pánuco, approximately 70 homes in the Lázaro Cárdenas and Santa Elena neighborhoods experienced flooding of up to 10 centimeters. Authorities are currently using pumping equipment in the community of El Moralillo to manage water levels.

In El Higo and Tihuatlán, rains have led to street flooding due to obstructed drainage systems. Municipalities are conducting cleaning and desilting operations to clear water. In Isla, the rising San Juan River prompted the local government to preemptively open a temporary shelter in El Coco.

The Cazones River is also seeing an increase in water levels, though it remains within ordinary maximum limits and poses no immediate risk to nearby populations. Civil Protection continues to monitor the situation in coordination with Álamo, Tihuatlán, Cazones, and Poza Rica. No injuries or damage to strategic infrastructure have been reported.
