Veracruz Cathedral launches free historic faith tours in August

The Diocese of Veracruz, through its Pastoral of Tourism, has started a permanent program of free historical and religious tours called “Ruta de la Fe.” The first tour begins on Saturday, 1 August, at 08:00 h. Organized by Father Miguel Ángel Hernández Ángel, vicar of the cathedral, the itinerary includes the Veracruz Cathedral, the historic town of La Antigua, the pre‑Hispanic Totonac city of Cempoala and concludes at the Santo Cristo del Buen Viaje shrine. The program aims to welcome visitors as pilgrims, highlighting Veracruz’s role as both a gateway to the sea and a historic centre of faith. Guided visits to the interior of the cathedral will become a permanent offering, providing deeper insight into the region’s religious heritage.
