Mexican electoral bodies prepare for 2026-2027 election cycles

Various electoral institutions in Mexico are implementing training and consultation measures ahead of the 2026-2027 electoral processes. In Oaxaca, the IEEPCO conducted knowledge exams for 1,767 applicants seeking to join 152 Municipal Electoral Councils across 17 locations.

In Querétaro, the IEEQ presented its 2026-2027 Training Program, which includes new induction courses to ensure technical and legal certainty for election officials. Meanwhile, the OPLE in Veracruz is initiating consultations in the Papantla, Tantoyuca, and Tequila regions. These consultations aim to define criteria for political parties regarding indigenous candidacies and affirmative action requirements.

Additionally, the INE in Hidalgo provided electoral training to members of the PAZ political party, covering topics such as the electoral roll, polling station logistics, and district computations. In Veracruz, the OPLE also signed a collaboration agreement with the Universidad Eurohispanoamericana to promote civic formation among youth and provide educational opportunities for electoral staff.
