Veracruz faces potential reduction in federal funding

Veracruz faces a potential reduction in federal funding following warnings from Fitch Ratings. According to the agency, the state is projected to see a 2.4 percent decrease in federal participations due to new population data from the 2025 Intercensal Survey (EIC 2025). This adjustment occurs as the Ministry of Finance incorporates updated demographic information into its estimates. Other states expected to see decreases include Guerrero (5.2 percent), Tlaxcala (3.9 percent), Chiapas (1.9 percent), Chihuahua (1.8 percent), and Oaxaca (1.5 percent).

In separate healthcare news, ISSSTE reported that 367 cataract surgery patients were treated during a recent week-long campaign across clinics in Xalapa, Coatzacoalcos, and Tuxpan. The breakdown of procedures included 99 in Xalapa, 103 in Coatzacoalcos, and 165 in Tuxpan.
