Veracruz faces flooding and water disruptions

Heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding in the El Cortijo residential area of Veracruz. The National Water Commission reported an accumulation of 89 millimeters of rain, with water reaching waist-deep levels in some streets and entering multiple homes. The storm also caused power outages across several neighborhoods.

Weather forecasts indicate that the temporal conditions, caused by the collision of a cold front with warm air from the Yucatán Peninsula and the Caribbean Sea, are expected to persist through the weekend and into early next week. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates as intermittent rains and fresh north winds are anticipated.

In a separate local matter, residents of the Primero de Mayo Sur neighborhood in Boca del Río have been notified of potential water supply disruptions. Maintenance work at the Otilio Montaño well is expected to cause low pressure or a total lack of potable water throughout Saturday, with service restoration anticipated by late evening.
