Veracruz government pledges over 4.4 bn pesos for 482 infrastructure projects in 2026

The Veracruz state government, led by Governor Rocío Nahle García, announced a public‑works programme for 2026 with an investment exceeding 4.4 billion pesos. The plan covers 482 projects, prioritising connectivity for underserved communities.

Two‑thousand‑one‑hundred million pesos are earmarked for 60 road works, spanning 582.2 km, plus 25 harvest‑road routes (59.7 km). Seven new bridges will be built to improve regional mobility, while 363 school‑site upgrades, 25 hydraulic works and two hospital‑infrastructure projects address social needs. Flagship projects include the expansion and modernisation of the World Trade Center Veracruz (exhibition space growing from 8,800 to 21,000 m² and parking from 350 to over 800 spaces), construction of the Boca del Río‑Alvarado bridge, the C5 Coatzacoalcos, refurbishment of the Heriberto Jara Corona stadium, and upgrades to the Veracruz Port aquarium. A tourism‑focused project, the Colotero in Álamo, will receive about 20 million pesos and is slated for six‑to‑seven‑month completion. The provisional bypass for the José López Portillo bridge remains operational while federal authorities advance the tender for its permanent reconstruction, expected to finish later this year.
