Veracruz Governor denies sanitary emergency amid medical supply shortages

Governor Rocío Nahle García has denied that Veracruz is facing a sanitary emergency despite reports of shortages in medical supplies and healing materials. Following protests by doctors and residents in Xalapa, Nahle stated that the state is coordinating with IMSS-Bienestar to address specific shortages. She noted that the state has the authority to purchase necessary supplies directly and seek federal reimbursement when required.

In other regional developments, the state government and the federal government have identified Coatzintla and Álamo as sites for relocating families affected by the 2025 floods. The Coatzintla project aims to build 3,500 homes to house approximately 750 families from Poza Rica.

Additionally, an explosion at a PMV Minera salt plant in Jáltipan resulted in three deaths and one serious injury. Authorities attributed the incident to the sudden expansion of incandescent material caused by oxygen presence in a brine well. Meanwhile, environmental reports from Semarnat indicate that air pollution remains the sixth leading cause of death in Mexico.
