Veracruz Governor reports three mayors are fugitives

Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has confirmed that three municipal mayors are currently fugitives or cannot be located by authorities. The governor cited these cases to support a constitutional reform initiative sent to the State Congress aimed at eliminating legal immunity (fuero) for mayors and trustees.

The officials identified include Raúl González Martínez of Ixhuatlán del Sureste and Bertín Bravo Montero of Úrsulo Galván, both of whom have already had their immunity stripped by the local Congress. González Martínez is under investigation for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of journalist Roxana Guzmán Ramírez. Bravo Montero faces proceedings related to the disappearance of businessman Héctor Ramos Sánchez and his bodyguard.

The third official, Isaac García Álvarez of Coahuitlán, remains in office but has failed to respond to formal summons from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) regarding a violent incident involving firearms that injured a minor. Nahle García emphasized that the proposed reform is not a partisan measure and would apply to all municipal public servants regardless of political affiliation.
