Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle Announces Completion of State Debt Repayment

Governor Rocío Nahle García confirmed that Veracruz has fully settled its outstanding debt with the federal tax authority, using a combination of fiscal regularisation, advance credit payments and stricter budget discipline. The payoff allows municipal governments to redirect previously pledged funds toward health, education, infrastructure and other social programmes, with Nahle stating, “We have the right to be happy.”

The state’s Labour Party (PT) coordinator Vicente Aguilar Aguilar praised the financial sanitation, linking it to the federal administration’s policies and urging transparent investment of the newly available resources. The PT also called for continued support for flood‑affected communities in Las Choapas and for the re‑opening of three idle sugar mills, stressing the need for job creation and effective oversight of public spending.
