Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle denies recent robbery wave
Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has denied reports of a recent wave of ten robberies in the Cumbres de Maltrata area. She clarified that viral videos circulating on social media depicting such incidents actually show events from several weeks ago.
To address security concerns for motorists and transporters on the highway connecting Veracruz to Puebla, Nahle stated that the National Guard and the State Public Security Secretariat have reinforced operations in both Cumbres de Maltrata and the Tuxpan area. She emphasized that Veracruz is coordinating with neighboring states, including Puebla, Oaxaca, and Tlaxcala, to manage highway security.
In a separate matter, Nahle called for a thorough audit by the Superior Auditor of the Federation (ASF) regarding the management of public funds by the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Veracruz Local Electoral Body (OPLE), following allegations of irregularities.
